Maggie's story
Updated: 4/18/18
Are you looking for a playmate for your current doggie? A running or walking companion? A great family dog? Maggie is a 4-year-old 50 lb girl that loves to run and play with other dogs. Shes super gentle when she plays, whether its with kids, toys, or other dogs, even puppies.
When her foster brother dog doesnt want to play, Maggie knows how to take no for an answer. Theres a cat in her foster home too. Maggie wants to play with her too, but the cat isnt interested. Its a bit of a game until the cat hisses and scares Maggie away. Thats how easy-going she is, whether its with cats, dogs, or humans.
Maggie has some energy in the morning, but afterwards she turns into a pretty laid back dog. Shed do well with a fenced-in yard, but a couple of walks each day works too. She loves to play chase with other dogs at the dog park, but afterwards, she curls up and naps for hours and hours on end while her foster mom is working.
When Maggie first came from Georgia, shed never lived inside a house before. On the first day, she learned that kitchen counters are off limits, and how to go up and down steps. She is fully housebroken, and knows basic commands like sit, wait, come, and down. She is still a little skittish with new people and new places, so she needs her human to be confident and in charge. When she feels safe, shes playful, loving, and a total goofball.
In the mornings, she likes to play with toys, chew on peanut butter bones, and roll around and get some belly rubs and head scratches. Sometimes she needs to be reminded which toys are hers and which are not (the cat toys are not). After some exercise and breakfast, she settles down and naps. Lunchtime is usually a short walk or a trip to the dog park, followed by another long nap until dinner. Evenings are time for curling up next to you or on a nearby dog bed. Maggie thinks its a great time for head scratches and petting her long silky ears.
Her long ears help to direct scent to her nose, and Maggie has an excellent sense of smell. She walks well on a leash, but needs to be reminded not to pull if she picks up a scent. She is a quiet dog, but will let out a howl if excited, frightened, or startled.
Maggie would be a great addition to a family. She is full of tail wags, and a sweet playful spirit that will make you smile. She has lots and lots of love to share. Do you?
Adoption Fee: $400.00

We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433

***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians.
Our Weight Classes are as follows:
0- 25lbs - Small
26- 45lbs - Medium
46-89 - Large
90+ X-large
If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following:
Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped.
If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee.
Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home.
If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home.
If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all.
Please go to under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out.
